CRANE

About CRANE

Rooted in faith.
Open to all.

We believe every child bears immeasurable worth. Our role is to help communities recognise it, protect it and make room for it to flourish.

Our vision

Children living in safe, well-resourced communities where they thrive and fulfil their God-given potential.

Our mission

To build a strong network of actors who work together to transform the systems, relationships and opportunities shaping children’s lives.

Always learning

Our story

Twenty years of learning in public.

2004

A small group of organisations begins sharing knowledge and coordinating care for vulnerable children in Kampala.

2012

The network grows beyond service delivery, equipping churches, schools and local leaders to strengthen child protection.

2020

CRANE adapts community learning and safeguarding support during disruption, keeping families connected.

Today

A diverse network advances shared outcomes across safety, thriving and learning—with evidence guiding every step.

Theory of change

Change travels through relationships.

Children flourish when the adults, institutions and policies around them work together. CRANE convenes the network, strengthens practice and turns learning into collective action.

Governance & trust

Accountability is part of the work.

CRANE is governed by an independent board and maintains safeguarding, financial control and partner due-diligence systems. Progress and financial stewardship are reported through annual reports and strategic reviews.
